Mountain Biking and Hiking

Western Newfoundland offers limitless hiking adventures. The unique geological formation in the bays, inlets and coves of the Bay of Islands and North Arm Mountains captivate visitors from all over the world. Choose any of these trails and you will find yourself surrounded by the peaceful beauty of the west coast.

Corner Brook Stream Trail
The trails hug the Glynmill Inn Pond and Corner Brook Stream on a pathway through the city core. Hikers can explore such heritage landmarks as Margaret Bowater Park, City Hall, Corner Brook Museum and Archives, and the Glynmill Inn. The circular trail is accessible from the landmark parking lots.

Corner Brook Gorge
The wooded trail escapes the city to an impressive gorge carved by the waters of Corner Brook Stream. A look out tower is available at the gorge site. Access the trail near the Massey Drive Overpass, west of Corner Brook.

Showy Mountain Trail
The trail at Blow Me Down Ski Park gets it name from the ‘snowy lake slipper’ plants that are found along the trail in July and the stunning views of the Blomidon Mountains. The 2km trail traverses alpine barrens and survey stands of birch and spruce. The ski park side trails offer longer hikes for your day trip. Blow Me Down Ski Park is located at Lundrigan Drive, Corner Brook.

Steady Brook Falls
The Falls is one of the Humber Valley’s most striking features. It spills over 100ft and is particularly spectacular after a heavy rainfall or snowmelt. Hikers can access road to the Marblewood Village entrance, turn right before the bridge, and continue up the hill to the marked trailhead.
