Bay of Islands
Visit the many coves and bights of the bay where residential communities have origins in fishing, logging and farming. The ACRE Salmon Hatchery at Hughes Brook and discover the natural wonders of this diverse ecosystem.
Captain Cooks Trail
Captain Cooks Trail passes the Mount Moriah termed ‘Land of the Hills’, Cook’s Brook a popular swimming hole with residents, Benoit’s Cove, John’s Beach and Frenchman’s Cove. The drive offers a panoramic view of Weeball, Pearl Island and Blomidon Mountains. Wait long enough at the observation tower and you will experience an awe-inspiring sunset.
Gros Morne National Park
Two hours away from Humber Valley Resort is the national park designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Start at the Discovery Centre in Woody Point, here you can plan your tour with waterfalls, marine inlets, sea stacks and cultural activities
Birdwatching
The West Coast of Newfoundland is home to a large variety of birds, including bald eagles, owls, warblers, blue jays and several species of duck. You will be able to see some of them right on your sundeck at your premiere chalet. Humber Valley Resort staff can arrange knowledgeable guides for local area tours. A tour can offer anything from a feeder tour around town to something more extensive in the backcountry or along the coastline.
Helicopter Tours
A helicopter offers quick access to Gros Morne National Park, Gaft Topsails, Humber Valley and surrounding areas. It is a wonderful opportunity to better experience all that Western Newfoundland offers. The region is best known for its Viking heritage, inland fiords, moose and caribou herds, and some of the most dramatic geological formations known to man. The helicopter base station is located five minutes from Humber Valley Resort.
