Sea Kayaking and Paddling
The lower Humber River winds for 19km through the Humber Valley and empties into the stunning Bay of Islands. This is the ideal starting point for a kayaking tour, novice or experienced.

The west coast provides excellent diversity for paddlers. From Burgeo on the southwest coast, to Woody Point and Rocky Harbour in the north, sea kayaking provides an interactive experience with Mother Nature. It is common to sight whales, bald eagles, terns, and kingfishers throughout the summer months. Boats, safety equipment and instruction are available.

Sailing and Windsurfing
The Humber Valley Resort Beach House is the perfect spot to launch your board, boat or sail for windsurfing or sailing on the expansive Deer Lake. For ocean sailing, the Bay of Islands Yacht Club is available for chartered tours, only a ten-minute drive west of Corner Brook. For the seasoned windsurfer, Parsons Pond in Gros Morne National Park is a popular venue with powerful ocean winds and a shallow ocean side pond.

Humbervalley Boat Trips
Early settlers in the Corner Brook area were excited to discover a river system that linked the salt water of the Humber Arm and a network of inland lakes and ponds, surrounded with the rich timber resources. For many years, the Humber River system carried logs to the industrial machines of Corner Brook Pulp and Paper producing newsprint paper for international markets.

With transportation changes, the river booms and logs are gone. Yet the power and might of the Humber remain. You will rave about the strength and beauty of the Humber River after a cruise aboard a guided powerboat. River trips include a revealing interpretation of the area and offer excellent photographic opportunities of the Humber River Gorge, its natural heritage and native wildlife.
